This brand has an ambassador programme. Can you find where to join?

Bottom of the email. Below the unsubscribe link. Last in the row, after FAQ and Account.

In a promo email, keeping it low makes sense. The job there is the sale.

But if your programme is going to sit in the footer, give people a reason to click. "Ambassador" is a label, not an invite.

Wrap it like a gift

The brands that do this well make it about the friend, not the payout. The Sill keeps it to "Give $10, Get $10." Great Jones calls them "pals" and uses "Cook, host, earn" as the button. Same programme, but it sounds like something you give, not a side job.

Then put it where the sale is already done

Your order confirmation. The customer already bought. There's nothing left to distract them from. And it's one of the few emails every customer actually opens.

That moment, right after purchase, is when someone is most excited about your brand. And most brands say nothing to them except "thanks, here's your tracking number."

Give it one line near the top:

"Love it already? Give a friend $10 off, and get $10 when they order."

Why this works

A recent customer doesn't need convincing. They chose you, they paid, they're invested in being right about it. Asking them to share at that point isn't a sales pitch, it's giving them a reason to do what they were going to do anyway: talk about it.

And unlike a paid creator, there's no upfront fee. You only pay when a friend buys.

Two things to get right

Pay on new customers only. The point is reaching people who don't know you yet, not rewarding someone for their sister who was already on your list.

Give each ambassador a personal link, not just a public discount code. Codes travel. You'll find them on coupon sites within a month, sitting at the last click on orders that were already happening.

This week, try this:

  1. Look at how your programme shows up in your promo emails. If it just says "Ambassador" or "Affiliate", rewrite it as a gift in your own brand voice.

  2. Add the one-liner and your referral link near the top of your order confirmation in Klaviyo or whatever you use.

  3. Check that your commission applies to new customers only, if you want max incrementality.

  4. Check back in 30 days: how many sign-ups, and how many of them made a sale?

P.S. I've started offering affiliate coaching, 1:1 or for your whole team. If you'd rather set up something like this yourselves, with someone who has done it before looking over your shoulder, book a call here or just reply "coaching".
